TRIP UPDATE: We are in Healdsburg, Ca for the 4th eating peaches that we picked yesterday at Gloria and Tom's and making deviled eggs with Kate and Sophie. The reading at Copperfield's last night was full, fun and they serves wine and cheese after all. I thought the libations had fallen through. Thanks Copperfield's gang for filling the place and for all the rest.

Sidewinder Tour Blog Post #13.5: SAN FRANCISCO and NORTH

NORTHWARD

After a long trip south, south, south through Kansas and Oklahoma then south and west through Texas, then west and north through New Mexico into Colorado, then Sidewinding in Utah, Nevada and to the coast of California, we are going North again...

Wine country.

Dogs. Dead ones, live ones.

Limes and and blood oranges.

Water restrictions followed and subverted as sprinklers spray -- daring the neighbors.

Firework stands. Iced tea.

Sidewinder Tour Blog Post #13: CALIFORNIA CAN WAIT

Last of West (for now)

JUST EAST OF AUSTIN, NEVADA: Highway 50 to 376 south.

Hung a left off the Loneliest Highway for Jerry's Ranch.

He met us halfway, at the Campground near the cave.

Drove on to the stone house, to the mares let out and mustangs gotten in.

Scramble eggs, donkeys, and one new nameless goat.

A saloon had moved 85 miles with a bear rolled up with the knife that skinned it.

The view was long as was the ride into the box canyon. This is not fiction.  Read More
